Generally, two exits should be available. There should be no sleeping accommodation on a balcony or mezzanine unless a satisfactory alternative route of exit is
provided.
FIRE ALARMS
Adequate arrangements should be made for raising the alarm. Whistles would be considered acceptable. The adults should have access to a telephone and be aware of the premises address and the procedure for calling
the Fire and Rescue Service.
EMERGENCY LIGHTING
Some form of emergency lighting should be available. Torches issued to each adult would be considered satisfactory.
FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT
Appropriate fire fighting equipment should be available. Two water type extinguishers or buckets of water and a fire blanket should be considered adequate.
ADULT SUPERVISION
A minimum of two adults should be present at all times.
COOKING ARRANGEMENTS
Portable cookers should not be used, any cooking carried out in the premises should be done in the purpose built Kitchen.
HEATING ARRANGEMENTS
Any heating provided should be fixed and guarded. Portable heaters are not considered acceptable.
COMBUSTIBLES
The storage of combustible materials should be kept to a minimum. Adequate arrangements should be made for the collection and removal of rubbish, which should be stored outside the premises pending
removal.
ACTION PLAN
A simple action plan should be drawn up to ensure that in the event of a fire occurring, one adult co-ordinates evacuation and fire fighting whilst the second adult ensures the Fire and Rescue
Service is called.
WIFI
Wifi is available in the hall to Brownie and Guide camp users, if required the access code can be obtained from the Caretaker.
